Mama Jade

Have you heard about Mama Jade?

She has been the buzz of a craigslist add that was posted October first! You see Mama Jade escaped from the prison she was living in and the horrible conditions she was put under. She was found on the door step of Christianna Willis' home. Willis received a text while at work from her roommate about a pitbull that was sitting on their porch and little did they both know that they would be saving a life!

Mama Jade was in terrible condition when Christianna got to her. She had fleshed exposed around her neck which appeared to be from a very tight leash, she had scars and fresh bite marks on her nose, she had recently had a litter of puppies and was used for breeding but worst of all was when the vet tried to find out Jade's age by looking at her teeth they realized majority of them were removed and those that were left behind were filed down. Mama Jade was definitely used for fighting but she had no weapons she could use herself because what was left of her teeth were filed down. Mama Jade was blessed to have walked onto Christianna's door step that day because she happens to be an employee at PETMED and was able to give Mama Jade the immediate attention she needed. Upon discovering all the horrible marks and things that were done to her they soon found out that Mama Jade had breast cancer and because the treatment would cost so much the vet and Willis made the decision that putting her down would be the best for her and painless, since she had endured enough in her short life.

So what did Christianna do? She went on craigslist and posted an ad to whoever the owner was about Mama Jade and the condition she found her in. Willis was angry and made it clear that she was going to find out who was responsible for hurting such a beautiful dog. Not too long after her post, it became viral. It was being shared all over Facebook and even craigslist users responded to her posts and begged her not to put Mama Jade down. Strangers were wanting to donate money to help pay for her treatments and give her that second chance at life and find a loving forever home for her.

I am so glad there are people like Christianna in this world. She opened her home to  help a dog that was in desperate need of medical attention but most of all she needed true love. We live in such a sad world where we have to witness these beautiful animals being tortured, abused and used to hurt one another. Pitbulls are just as loving as any other dogs would be! I believe it's all one how they are raised. If you teach a dog to fight, he will fight but if you teach a dog to love, he will love you till his dying days. I have two pitbulls myself and they are my world. My daughter loves them just as much and plays with them as if they were kids themselves. I think the most important lesson here is that we need to spay and neuter our animals. Thousands of animals are put down daily because many fail to spay and neuter and the pounds become over crowded with unwanted animals. Did you know that nine out of ten animals that come from litters will find their way to the pound. That's a scary number! So the next time you get a pet make sure to spay and neuter them and if you decide that you want a forever friend go to a shelter and adopt!!!! A friend with two eyes, four paws and a wagging tail is waiting for you!

Entry#6: Blogs

Not that we really had a choice whether to blog or not but I have to admit I love to blog. I am able to truly express myself and share with others. Blogging has been my favorite activity in English 101 because it's fun to blog. I can design my outline how I want to, I can add pictures to help show my story and give it a little life. Blogging in the beginning was kind of difficult because I did not understand everything that was required of us. This could be due to the fact that it was an eight week course and we had so much to cover all at once and we couldn't get into too much detail. Thank god for self generated posts and being able to write about whatever we wanted because if it was just assignments I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much.

I would say I took the blogging experience seriously. It was an assignment and a part of my grade so, of course I would take it seriously. I did learn a few things or maybe one thing from blogging. I learned to express myself and to not be afraid of writing. Not that I was afraid of writing but sometimes it is difficult to put some things into words especially when I always relate writing to papers. I haven't taken an English course in a long time and it's something I've been avoiding because I am not the best writer out there and I hate the writing process. I am what you call a procrastinator but I must say once I got the hang of things I truly loved it.

I really enjoyed blogging and maybe one day when I find some free time on my hands maybe I can become a blogger myself, a true blogger that is but until than my friends...........
